Fruitfullness

FRUITFULLNESS

Dear Friends,

Several years ago, we planted trees in our yard. One of them was a fig tree. It stood as a stick in the ground for two years, only ever growing three leaves.

No fruit, no growth, nothing.

It looked awful and was taking up space. But, I remembered the parable that Jesus told of another fig tree. The gardener saved it from being uprooted and thrown away by digging around it, fertilizing it, and tenderly caring for its well-being. Sure enough, when I did the same for our fig stick, it became a growing, thriving tree producing more figs than we could handle each year.

Jesus invites us into a relationship with him that aims at the production of fruit (John 15).

As we begin 2025, I am praying that the Lord will multiply the fruitfulness of RIC. This will mean changes.

More than a change of meeting locations, we want to see a greater emphasis on prayer, knowing and sharing the gospel, making disciples, and prayerfully moving toward another church plant.

As we remain in Jesus, we will trust Him and bear fruit even if it means our church is "fertilized" or "pruned."

What might that look like for this body of believers in north Rome in 2025?

Let's pray for fruit as we seek to corporately remain in Jesus.

For the Kingdom,

Loren
