Found in the Word
The "Church Address" has a double meaning.
Someone is addressing the church.
It is where the church can be found.
In anticipation of the Christmas season. I hope to be found with you, in the Word. Together, in the word, living according to the transformative truth and spirit of Jesus. That begins with the family, or with a trusted group of Christian friends.
Then, it's about knowing what you will read/watch/listen to together.
Finally, it's up to you to respond to what God tells you, as a family, team, study group. So...
Ask someone to "Advent" with this Christmas
Spouse, friend, child, parent, neighbor, portiere, it can be anyone, even an avowed atheist (if their willing)
What will you read/study/watch/listen to?
An Bible reading plan: ESV.org has a great 31-day plan called "Advent".
Devotional book/music: Choose something from this curated list made by Brett McCracken at The Gospel Coalition
Watch something: Advent series on Rightnow Media by Derwin Gray.
Do...We act on the grace and hope we have in Jesus.
Just a few examples of what we may be compelled to do after investing in a gospel-saturated advent together...
Give generously, serve sacrificially, love the unlovely, bravely confess sin, seek reconciliation, make peace with another, encourage the discouraged, trust the Lord in a new way, dig deeper relational roots of loving investment, rearrange my calendar (or free it up) for more time in prayer, ask "How are you really doing?" more often, listen more.
He has come and is coming again!
