More Precious than Jewels
More Precious than Jewels
This year, the newsletter lands on January 28. After Christmas and Easter, this is the greatest day in history...for me. Christ was born on Christmas, rose on Easter, but my wife was born today.
Proverbs 31:10 asks, "An excellent wife, who can find? She is far more precious than jewels."
Hands down, I am the wealthiest man alive for God has graciously given me a wife more precious than jewels. Nearly 25 years ago, we met in high school having no idea where God would lead us. Through dark and uncertain times, and through sunshine and adventure, she has proven time and again to be the right helpmeet for the good work God has given us.
Proverbs 31:10-31 describes the epitome of a godly woman. It is the female counterpart to the qualities of elders, the godly men described in 1 Timothy and Titus. These women and men are not sin-less, but active in putting sin to death by applying gospel truth to everyday situations. A man and woman in covenant relationship with God and with one another, glorify God through eyes fixed on Jesus, and hands eager for good works.
Gentlemen, I pray that your love for your wife (current or future) is fueled by the grace of God who knows it is not good for man to be alone. He has, or will in his gracious timing, provided one who is a conduit of God's love and grace for you. I know he has for me.
Ladies, I know my wife prays for you, she loves to hear from you, and desires you to see you grow in your love for and satisfaction in God alone.
Please wish Alaina a Happy Birthday. Without her, there would not be an RIC today. I would never have made it.
