3 Starting Truths
When we read Ephesians 2:1-7, three starting truths for the Christian life are presented:
You began dead.
Christ makes you alive.
You live for an eternal future hope.
This may be disorienting for you. Too many have told me they were born in the church, so they've always been Christians, not according to God's Word. The apostle Paul teaches us that we begin spiritually dead. We were saved from our sin only when Christ came to us and brought us to life. Until this happens, there is no other hope to which a sinner can cling. If you have trusted in Christ as your Lord and Savior, you have a future hope! If you have not, behold, now is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2).
What do you think you should do? Pray these things to God:
A. Admit you are a sinner and need God's grace. (Romans 3:10; 6:23)
B. Believe in the Son of God who paid the price for your sin and brings you back to God who loves you. (Romans 5:10, 6)
C. Confess that he is Lord and Savior of your life and begin a new life (Romans 10:9-10)
If you have just done that, WELCOME to the family of God!
Next...
Tell someone that you know is a believer in Jesus. Then, come to church and let us know what's happened. We want to celebrate with you and welcome you into the family of God.
Now...
Brothers and sisters in Christ, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 3:13).
Praying for your joy and progress in trusting Jesus,
Loren
