Born again

[3] Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” [4] Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” [5] Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. [6] That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
John 3:3-6

Born Again

Jesus’ conversation with the Pharisee Nicodemus tells us a few things:

1. No one is born a Christian. Regardless whether your birth certificate or your parents tell you that you were born a Christian. Only those who are born again. Are actually related to God in a way that one can truly have hope of entering God's heaven after this life.

2. No one is born again because they "rebirthed" themselves. In this way, it is like your first birth, which you had no say in. Your parents and God's good design (and will) brought you into the world. Similarly, only the work and will of God can you be reborn.

3. There is one spiritually verifiable determination of one's salvation. Like an airtight legal case where definitive evidence has led to a sure conviction, the water and Spirit confirm one's sure rebirth.

4. New life is available for all ages, even old guys. No one is beyond being born again.

Are these things true of you? What about your family and friends? Do you and those around you claim Christianity, but you're not sure about the points above? If you cannot, with confidence, say that you have been born again and are a new creature in Jesus, would you like to?
Ask. God will do it for all who call to him to be saved from their sin.
Come. RIC or your local Bible-teaching church will gladly walk with you until you are confident in your rebirth in Jesus.

Together for new births,

Loren
