The Home's Foundation

The Home’s Foundation

Someone told me once that in Dubai, because the ground is mostly sand, the foundation of the buildings must be set to a depth that is half the height of the building.  Otherwise, those tall Dubai buildings would tip over.

This Sunday, we will begin walking through Paul's letter to the Ephesians chapter one. In chapter one, we will pound our spiritual feet against the rock solid foundation of the gospel. Without a strong, immovable foundation, a home cannot stand.

If you've ever visited the Gulf Coast of the southern United States where a hurricane has come through, you will see empty spaces where large condominiums and homes once stood, but right at ground level there is a flat cement foundation.  The building above could not withstand the hurricane winds, but the foundation survived!

By God's grace, RIC stands on the gospel. This is the firm foundation of Jesus Christ, who saves sinners, and forms them into the dwelling place of God on earth. Picture that for a moment. Creator of heaven and earth, who defines righteousness and justice, love and peace, abiding with the likes of us. Praise Him! Our idiom says, "That's too good to be true." The gospel says, "The greatest good is true!"

All of his children will never have to worry whether the enemy or the world or sin itself will topple his church. It's foundation is strong, and it cannot be shaken.

Take time this week to be in Ephesians 1 and come ready to enjoy his gospel to the praise of his glorious grace.

Making home together,
Loren
