Christian Community: Part 9
Over the summer, we will look at nine different practices of the Christian Community found in Scripture. I'll talk about some of them, but I mainly want you to look up the Scripture passages and answer the application questions below. But...that's just the start. After answering the application questions, go do it. Put it into practice in our Christian community.
First, what is the Christian community?
The people of God—those who are created by faith through his gospel. A Christian community consists of those who have repented and believed and have a shared experience of the gospel, a message of God's grace to sinners through his Son, Jesus.
The body of Christ - those who are members of one another, united in his eternal life. A Christian community consists of people who deliberately share life together.
The fellowship of the Spirit - A Christian Spirit-filled community is an alternative society that models distinctive ways to do everything in life—a present, living model of his future.
Practice 9 - serving one another’s interests rather than our own
Hebrews 10:24 - What is one main reason for meeting together (v.25)?
Romans 15:1-2 - What is strength for?
Galatians 5:13 - What is freedom for?
Application:
How does our community serve one another's interest? What do you find particularly challenging about serving another's interest? Can you think of one way to put these passages into practice this week?
Together in this Christ community with you,
Loren
